History of the Stadium
When and How Built: Established in 2003, the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium was developed by the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) and Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) to elevate Cricket in Andhra Pradesh. This modern venue, built to host international cricket matches, boasts state-of-the-art facilities, making it a landmark for fans. Learn more about our mission to cover such iconic venues on our About Cricpredictor page.
Purpose: Designed as a premier cricketing hub in eastern India, it supports domestic tournaments like the Andhra Premier League and attracts global fixtures. Renamed in 2009 to honor Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, it reverted to its original name, ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, in March 2025, reflecting its regional roots.
Significant Events: The stadium’s first international match, an ODI between India vs. Pakistan in April 2005, saw MS Dhoni’s iconic 148, cementing his legacy. It also made history as India’s first venue for a day-night Test match. Explore more legendary moments in our Cricket Related Videos section.
