The Sydney Cricket Ground is a sports stadium in Sydney, Australia. It is used for Test, One Day International and Twenty20 cricket, as well as Australian rules football, rugby league football, rugby union, and association football

One of the oldest Test venues, Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) hosted its first Test an Ashes encounter between Australia and England, way back in 1882. A Test regular, Sydney usually holds the popular 'New Year Test' that is generally played in the first week of January. The ground is also a pre-dominant ODI venue and has hosted numerous final matches as well as the crucial semi-final in the 1992 World Cup. One of the most popular sporting venues across the world, SCG was the ground where Sir Don Bradman made his highest ever first class score of 452, for New South Wales against Queensland in 1928-29.

How does the pitch play?

Sydney is known to be a good batting wicket, with the spinners coming into the picture on days 4 and 5 of a Test match. It doesn't offer the true bounce of the Gabba or the raw pace of the WACA, but turns which ensures spinners have one venue in Australia to look forward to rolling their arm over.

Australia vs New Zealand 1st ODI Match Prediction

Australia return to home soil for a late-season ODI series against New Zealand in which the hosts will be desperate to end their current 50-over losing streak. The first match of this series takes place at the SCG on March 13, and the live action is scheduled to start at 14:30 local time.

Australia have lost their last five ODIs, including three heavy defeats to South Africa, but are hopeful a home series can see them wrap up the summer on a high note. They beat New Zealand at the World Cup, however, and have a dominant record in this fixture.

New Zealand have won their only three matches since the World Cup final defeat to England on the other hand, beating India 3-0 in their most recent bilateral series thanks to some excellent batting performances.

Toss Prediction

New Zealand chased twice upon winning the toss in their series against India, and they may want to field first again in this match.

Weather Report

Though it is set to get worse over the weekend, the first match of this series looks set to be played in sunny, warm and dry conditions.

Pitch Condition

The SCG always offers turn, and the late-season wicket could mean that is even more the case.

New Zealand arrive in good form, on the other hand - the World Cup runners-up having beaten India 3-0 in their most recent series.
Australia will take heart not only from their return to home soil but their excellent record in ODIs against New Zealand, however.

Brisbane Heat has slightly better batting line-up than Sydney Thunder because Sydney all depends on their openers but Brisbane has more power hitters in lower orders also.
