Punjab Kings will be up against Defending Champions Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Punjab Kings are yet to get going in this Tournament after their First Encounter. Batting Looked too dependent on KL Rahul though they have other Quality T20 Batsman like Chris Gayle,Pooran and Mayank. Pooran has been disappointing in this year IPL bagging 3 Ducks in 4 games. We Might see Inclusion of Number 1 T-20 Batsman Dawid Malan in the side to give the stability in the Middle order. Youngster Shahrukh Khan has played some good cameos for the team. Bowling Department has to be improved by the kings as they are unable to pick wickets and that is costing their team the Match. Shami needs to be back in form as he has been expensive in the recent matches. Richardson and Meredith have also not been upto the Mark. Murugan Ashwin is the only genuine spinner in the team which might be an issue playing at Chennai.
Mumbai Indians have also not played their best Cricket soo far and failed to make a single score of 160+ which states that Batting hasn't fired yet for the Mumbai. De Kock and Rohit are getting starts but failing to convert those started into a big Knock. Suryakumar Yadav is also going through the same failing to score big. Hardik Pandya has been disappointing failing to score runs. Pollard might come ahead of Hardik regarding the form of Hardik and which might benefit the team. Bowling hasn't been the issue for the Indians with presence of Bumrah and Boult at the top. Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar has been good in middle overs picking up wickets regularly. Pollard is also an useful option in Chennai taking pace off the ball.
PITCH REPORT
The conditions in Chennai are extremely in favor of the spinners. Even the fast bowlers concentrate on their cutters and slower-balls to get wickets. The batsmen have been able to score against the new ball but things change around the tenth over. A score of around 150 is very useful in Chennai and can be easily defended.
