Indian Premier League 2023

Eden Gardens, Kolkata

After beginning their campaign on a losing note, the Knight Riders have made a strong comeback as they won their last 2 matches and have climbed to the 3rd spot on the points table. The win in their latest match played against the defending champions, the Gujarat Titans, will go a long way to boost their confidence. Chasing a mammoth target of 205, Venkatesh Iyer and Nitesh Rana laid a solid base with a 100-run partnership for the 3rd wicket, while Rinku Singh played a brilliant cameo at the end to see his team throughKKR has a powerful striker at the top of the batting line-up in the form of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, while Andre Russell and Sunil Narine can take up the finishing duties. The return of Lockie Ferguson has further strengthened KKR’s pace attack consisting of Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee, and Shardul Thakur, while the spin attack is pretty good too with plenty of experienced slower bowlers including Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy.

The Sunrisers have a strong batting line-up on paper. But except for Rahul Tripathi, none of the batsmen have managed to impress so far. Harry Brook, who is among the most expensive overseas player for this season, has managed to score just 26 runs in his 3 innings so far. The likes of Mayank Agarwal and Glen Phillips have failed to get going. We are not looking past Brook just yet, but there is no doubt he needs to perform. Aiden Markram, who was out for a duck in his first game of the season, has managed to get some runs under his belt and will be looking to put up another big score here, while Heinrich Klaasen will play the role of a finisher. SRH has a strong pace attack consisting of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, and T Natarajan, and they will be hoping to put up a good show against the in-form batsmen of KKR.

The pitch at Eden Gardens is good to bat on and has seen plenty of high scores in the past. The average first-inning score here in the IPL is around 180-190, but the team batting first will be looking to score over 200 here.

The team winning the toss will be looking to bat first here.
