Our Prediction
-
The likes of Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Ian Cockbain, and Tom Kohler Cadmore have been in excellent form and will not be easy to dismiss
-
Trent Rockets emerged on top in the last meeting between the two sides and will be more confident of the two sides
-
Trent Rockets have a slightly better-balanced side between the two, at least on paper
We have seen plenty of action-packed cricket already in The Hundred Men's Competition 2022 and we are not even halfway into the league stage. The teams have fought hard and if anything, the competition is going to only grow tougher from here.
Birmingham Bears are currently in a pretty decent position with respect to the standings and how they have done but cannot afford any slip-ups if they want to continue staying in the top half. They are coming off a couple of back to back wins and would want to build on that. However, they would also know that they faced a defeat at the hands of Rockets when the two sides met earlier in the tournament. Birmingham Phoenix had a terrific tournament last time around with Adam Milne doing a handsome job for them with the ball. This year though, for the remainder of the matches, Milne has been ruled out of the competition due to an Achilles injury. While Ben Dwarshius is available as his replacement, he might find it difficult to hit the ground running.
Trent Rockets have not fired at their peak potential yet but they are still pretty much leading the points table with three wins in as many matches. They have already defeated Phoenix earlier in this edition and would be brimming with confidence coming into this match. The Rockets have an excellent side with T20 specialists available right through and that has helped them to perfection up until now. The likes of Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Tom Kohler Cadmore, and Ian Cockbain have more often than not batted their opponents out of the equation. Besides, they have a pretty good bowling attack too, providing the side with immaculate balance.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
We have seen only one game played here at this venue thus far in the competition and the team batting second found it difficult to chase down a tall total. The surface here tends to be an excellent one to bat on and with reasonably sized boundaries, batsmen and bowlers will both have something to work with. Batsmen once set should enjoy batting here. Keeping all that into consideration, the team batting first would want to push towards the 170-run mark.
