Srilanka out of Asia Cup 2018

Srilanka lost to Afghanistan by 91 runs in must win situation. 

Earlier after winning the toss, Afghanistan had decided to bat first.A good start handed to them by their openers - Mohammad Shahzad and Ihsanullah Janat  before the fall of Mohammad Shahzad for 57-1 in 11.4 over. But both fell prey to Akila Danajaya, who had missed the first game against Bangladesh. Rahmat Shah and Hasmatullah Shahidi got together to add 80 runs for the fourth wicket. Rahmat Shah hit the highest score for Afghanistan. He socred 72 off 90 balls before getting out. Afghanistan were restricted to 249 in 50 overs. Thisara Parera took 5 of the Afghanistan wickets.

In Srilankan Innings Kusal Mendis was out on duck by Mujeeb Ur Rahman in their first over.The wicket kept on falling as Srilanka were bundled on 158 in 41.2 over. Upul Tharanga was the highest scorer from Srilanka as he scored 36 runs before getting out on Naib ball.

This states that Srilanka is out of the Asia cup as Bangladesh and Afghanistan has won 1 match each . And Srilanka has lost all his matches. Srilanka lost against Bangladesh and also with Afghanistan. So the chances for qualification is end for Srilanka. Bangladesh and Afghanistan will play last league game of Group B on 20th September.
