DUBAI Tuesday 25th September, A last ball Ball Wicket from Rashid Khan level scores in a thrilling opening ODI at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Afghanistan's Rashid Khan took the wicket of Indian All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the second last ball of the final over to earn his team a dramatic tie with India in the first one-day international in Dubai. Afghanistan's star spinner, giving away just six runs off the first four balls of the final over before tempting Jadeja to play the pull only to be caught by the fielder positioned at midwicket.
India, chasing 253 for Victory,110-run opening between Rayudu and Rahul had laid the platform for India's victory, India seemed to chase the Target With an ease, Indian skipper Ms. Dhoni scored only 7 runs in 15 balls. At one stage India were 166 for 4 when their middle order batsmen Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik was on the crease they made 38 runs partnership for the 5th wicket.
The game seemed to be slipping away from Afghanistan hand, but they turned the game by breaking the partnership and they got the timely wicket of Jadhav in the form of a run-out. Karthik played straight shot and the ball hits the wicket by touching Mujeeb's fingers and Kedar was out of the crease. After Karthik wicket, All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar the game comeback in balance again and they were on 205 for 6. But after that partnership they lose Chahar, Kuldeep and Kaul early only Jadeja and Khaleel Ahmed was on the crease when 7 runs were required in the final over which was bowled by Rashid Khan. Jadeja played the first ball as a dot delivery and in the very second ball, he smashed the ball for four.in 2 balls only 1 run was required but Jadeja miss timed the shot and the fielder takes the catch they game finished in a nerve-wracking tie.
Afghanistan opener Shahzad cracked a superlative hundred to lift them to a competitive total, He played an aggressive inning and scored 124 runs(11 fours and 7 sixes) in 116 balls. Shahzad dismissed in the 38th over. after Shazad wicket, Nabi and Zadran made 46 runs of partnership for the 7th wicket. Nabi played a good a good knock of 64 runs but after his wicket, Afghanistan made only 24 runs in last 5 overs and they finished their inning on 252 for in 50 overs.
on the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets, Kuldeep 2, and Deepak, Kedar, Khaleel 1 wickets each, no wicket for Sidharth Kaul.
Md. Shahzad became the man of the match for scoring 124 runs.
